This is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen.....

IMDB Description....

The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American military force and the home islands of Japan. Therefore the Imperial Japanese Army is desperate to prevent it from falling into American hands and providing a launching point for an invasion of Japan. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi is given command of the forces on the island and sets out to prepare for the imminent attack. General Kuribayashi, however, does not favor the rigid traditional approach recommended by his subordinates, and resentment and resistance fester among his staff. In the lower echelons, a young soldier, Saigo, a poor baker in civilian life, strives with his friends to survive the harsh regime of the Japanese army itself, all the while knowing that a fierce battle looms. When the American invasion begins, both Kuribayashi and Saigo find strength, honor, courage, and horrors beyond imagination. Written by Jim Beaver

My Review

This movie was excellent. I am a huge WWII buff and love accurate historical movies. This was a great movie in the WWII genre. It contains an amazingly well developed, believable story as well as a great cast and beautiful cinematography. This movie is further authenticated by its almost entirely Japanese language with subtitles. This may be annoying at points but it makes the story much more real. This opposite perspective gives humanity to the common "Jap" that is seen as an evil force in WWII....

I love this movie.. I can not put into words how much....

A definite rental and a great movie to buy....

I use it all the time to check out movies that are on tv... see if they are worth watching or if it will be a waste of my time.
